Castlegar Garden Club

The Castlegar Garden Club was founded in 1996, but began unofficially five years earlier by a group of avid gardeners gathering around a kitchen table. Bob Switzer (1915 - 2007) provided the original spark.
The Garden Club has seed and plant exchanges; guest speakers on ornamental grasses, bats, and composting; and we have had workshops on bonsai growing, tufa pots and hanging baskets.

We support local causes, participate in the Adopt-A-Road Program, and provide flowers for the unique ‘Blossoms For Biffies’ at the Blue Grass Jamboree & Pass Creek Fall Fair.
Through the CGC, we enjoy:
  • innovative and inspiring speakers
  • sharing and enhancing our gardening talents
  • horticultural expeditions
  • workshops
  • plant exchanges
  • summer: appetizers in the garden
  • working in partnership with other local organizations and garden clubs
